We are pleased to announce that we have been successful in securing much needed funds for our veteran’s alcohol project. Colin Leonard project co-ordinator says “ we are making a huge impact in working with our ex-armed forces community, many veterans in Derbyshire are drinking at very high levels and experiencing complex social, physical and psychological problems”
This project will help us to tackle issues of alcohol related anger in one of the most deprived areas of Derbyshire – Bolsover. “ Responses to anger questionnaires provided across our service show that many veterans are struggling with strong feelings of anger” says Elaine Handley – DAAS Service Manager, “This particular project will seek to explore with veterans their feelings, raise awareness about the link between anger and alcohol and help them to develop improved anger management coping strategies”. If you are affected by an alcohol problem or you are close to someone who is drinking and you or they were in the armed forces, please ring to meet up with our STAND TO project co-ordinator Colin on 01246 2016514.
