Criminal Justice 
Our specialist Criminal Justice team aims to help people living in the Derbyshire County who are using substances problematically and are in contact with the Justice System. This team works closely with all areas of the Justice
System, including courts, Liaison & Diversion, prisons, Probation Service, Integrated Offender Management and hostels, to support people whose substance use is linked to their offending. Appointments are intensive and frequent, and offered in a range of office and community-based locations. 

What you can expect from our Criminal Justice drug and alcohol workers:
-    Working alongside probation with clients subject to DRR (Drug Rehabilitation Requirement) and ATR (Alcohol Treatment Requirement) court orders, licence and supervision requirements. 
-    Working alongside justice system colleagues with Derbyshire’s Test on Arrest programme (which identifies people testing positive for heroin/crack/Cocaine in custody, following a police arrest).
-    Partnership working with a wide range of agencies across the Derbyshire county and surrounding areas.
-    Comprehensive assessments to identify treatment needs.
-    Developing tailored, person centred, recovery oriented care plans.
-    Intensive and frequent psychosocial interventions with an allocated key worker in 1:1 and group settings.
-    Support to access medication for opiate replacement, medicated assisted withdrawal and relapse prevention.
-    Support with the research, preparation pack and funding application process for inpatient detox and residential rehab.
-    Employment, training & education, counselling and physical health improvement.
-    Community based recovery support, including Recovery Through Nature, Intuitive Recovery and Skills Tu Life courses, Employment, Domestic Abuse, Offender programme, in addition to a number of local recovery organisations Recovery Projects | Growing Recovery In Derbyshire
-    Our core group work programme is a focused 12 weeks course aimed at reducing substance use and offending behaviour. For people in the group with parental responsibility we offer safeguarding and positive parenting
workshops, delivered by trained key workers.

The team also works alongside prison healthcare teams to handover and transfer care of people either beginning or finishing their sentence, ensuring a smooth transition of care and a continuation of support when in custody and back in the community. Working with people leaving prison the Criminal Justice workers develop personalised prison release recovery plans, which involves a comprehensive package of wrap around care focused on addressing substance use, and identifying any support needs for housing, benefits, mental health, physical health, employment, training & education in addition to a range of peer and community support.
